Advisor- Handicrafts Value Chain
INTERCOOPERATION, a Swiss organisation for development and
international cooperation, invites applications for a position of Advisor- Handicrafts Value Chain for its
Livelihoods, Empowerment and Agroforestry (LEAF) project, to be based in
Rajshahi. LEAF aims to contribute to the substantial reduction of poverty of
the poor and extreme poor households through improving their capacities in
human and institutional development, local resources management and exploitation
of market opportunities. One of the main focuses of LEAF is to support the
micro and small handicrafts enterprises to improve the products and to reach up
to the export market. The Advisor- Handicrafts Value Chain is responsible to
develop and implement the concepts and strategies for promoting handicrafts
market for the poor and extreme poor following BDS approaches considering
different levels' market actors. S/he is responsible to provide advisory and
backstopping supports to the regional teams so that the concepts and strategies
of handicrafts value chains are translated into practices at all levels, and
the handicrafts products got access to their input, output and service markets.
S/he is responsible to contact, negotiate and contract with the national and
international market actors in order to create the output markets for the
handicrafts products at international level.
Required qualifications, experiences and
competencies for the position are as follows:

Masters degree in
relevant subject
·
5 years of
experience in the relevant fields
·
Knowledge and
skills in developing training curriculum/modules
·
Interpersonal
skills and a good team player
·
Exposure in
dealing with private sector
·
Experience in
promoting BDS, Market Development and MSEs
·
Experience in
value chain/sub-sector analysis
·
Understanding in
promotion of private local service provision
·
Communication,
linkage, networking and negotiation capability with private and public
institutions
·
Knowledge of
designs and styles of handicrafts products demanded by European and other
outside markets
·
Knowledge of
export regulations for handicrafts products
·
Analytical and
report writing skills
·
Operational
skills of commonly used computer software including internets and websites
·
Willing for
frequent visits of at least 60% of the time to the field and other different
places like Dhaka to contact relevant actors.
